Description: Colourless, clear, thick oily liquid. Tasteless, odourless when cold, gives off a faint oil smell when heated.

Basic uses: pharmaceutical preparations, cosmetics, personal care products, oenology, polymers, lubricants, etc.

General information: Paraffin oil has emollient & lubricating properties. It is used in many emulsions, creams, ointments for pharmaceutical or cosmetic use. It is also found as an ingredient in capsules and tablets as a lubricant. In oenology it is used to prevent the wine from coming into contact with the air.

Features: Practically insoluble in ethanol, glycerine and water. Miscible with oils and organic solvents such as acetone, benzene, chloroform, carbon disulfide, ether, and petroleum ether.
